Kitchen Urban Garden Programme
KUGP
This project aims to strengthen food security and improve livelihoods by empowering vulnerable communities in both urban and rural areas through sustainable agricultural practices and community-based support structures.
In urban areas, the project supports marginalised households, to establish and maintain household food gardens within a limited space, with a focus on vegetable production for household consumption.
This enhances access to nutritious food while reducing household food expenses.
Participants receive practical Home Gardening Training designed to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to establish and maintain productive household gardens. The training focuses on growing vegetables in available spaces, including backyards, small residential plots, and balconies
To support long-term success, participants also benefit from ongoing monitoring, mentorship, and technical assistance, helping them overcome challenges, improve gardening practices, and sustain food production for their households.
